Intact Insurance announces personal automobile rate decrease for Nova Scotia

Date March 31, 2008

ING Insurance, Nova Scotia’s largest property and casualty insurer, announced today that it is reducing its automobile rates for consumers by and average of 4.6%.

According to Alan Blair, Senior Vice President of the Atlantic Division of ING Insurance, the reduction in premiums will benefit young drivers with clean driving records as well as experienced drivers. Consumers who also insure both their homes and their cars under ING’s my Home and Auto™ combined policy will also benefit from higher premium discounts. These changes take effect immediately for new ING Insurance clients and will be reflected in the renewal notice of current clients.

"We continuously monitor trends in claims and other cost related factors at ING and we are pleased to share with consumers the benefits of the continuing reduction in claims costs in the province,” said Blair. “And with the new simplified process for reducing premiums, we look forward to rewarding our customers with lower rates more quickly.”

These new rates, along with the launch of our Responsible Driver Guarantee™, whereby ING guarantees not to increase a customer’s premium as a direct result of their first at-fault accident, will go a long way in making automobile insurance even more affordable and accessible for Nova Scotians.
