Toronto, October 1, 2013 - Intact Financial Corporation (TSX: IFC) has achieved a leadership position among Canadian publicly-listed companies for the quality of its climate change reporting by the CDP, the world’s only global environmental disclosure system. The achievement was announced today in the CDP Canada 200 Climate Change Report 2013, which tracks how Canada’s largest listed companies are acting in response to a changing climate.

"It is quite an honour to be recognized for the quality and comprehensiveness of our climate change disclosure," said Gilles Gratton, Vice President Corporate Communications of Intact Financial Corporation. "Achieving top marks among Canadian responders brings us a tremendous sense of pride, particularly as it reflects upon Intact’s effort to promote climate change adaptation among consumers, NGOs and governments."

The CDP’s Climate Disclosure Leadership Index highlights the companies that have displayed a strong approach to the disclosure of information regarding climate change among the largest 200 companies listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP, comments: "Canadian Companies that score highly enough to be included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index have demonstrated leading practice on the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use, and transparency of their climate change strategy."
