Charles Brindamour, Chief Executive Officer

Charles Brindamour is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Intact Financial Corporation, the largest provider of property and casualty insurance in Canada and a leading provider of specialty insurance in North America. He began his career with Intact in 1992 and has held progressively senior roles, in Canada and abroad, within Intact and its former affiliates as Senior Vice President of Personal Lines, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Brindamour was appointed President and CEO in January 2008.


Under Mr. Brindamour’s leadership, the company became an independent and widely-held Canadian company in 2009 and two years later, acquired AXA Canada; the largest acquisition in the history of Canada’s property and casualty insurance (P&C) industry. After a broad transformation and four more acquisitions, Intact is today the unparalleled leader in Canada in both personal and commercial lines, protecting one in five Canadians and one in four small businesses. In 2017, Mr. Brindamour grew the company’s presence further into the United States with the acquisition of OneBeacon Insurance Group, creating a North American leader in specialty insurance.


Mr. Brindamour is a graduate of Laval University in Actuarial Sciences and an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society. In May 2019, Mr. Brindamour received an honorary PhD by HEC Montréal. He is a board member of Intact Financial Corporation, Branksome Hall and the Business Council of Canada. Mr. Brindamour also serves as Chairman of the Geneva Association and is a co-founder of the Intact Centre for Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo.
